American Course
This course is part of a three course complex on the resort island on Sentosa in Singapore. It is labeled as an “American” course as it is styled with the typical artificial green grass carpet. Unlike most American courses, the Adventure course is essentially carpet and the hole without any of the typical obstacles seen on an American course, hence the “2” rating for difficulty. If you can read the greens and putt with the proper speed, you can score low on this course.
There is little creativity on this course. The course is built into the side of a hill, so you get a terraced effect. A number of holes have small ponds surrounding the holes which would result in a waterfall effect; however, the water was off when I played the course so only stagnant pools were visible. The only hole of any real interest was number 13, which was situated in a cave with the hole protected on the left by a large rock. This hole would probably be considered the signature hole of the Adventure course.
Sensota is a tropical area and the course is lush with green, exotic plants. Squirrels, lizards and tropical birds are seen on the course. The course was judged to be a bit worn, with carpet seams coming up in some spots and leaves from the plants on some greens. The climate is 90/90/90- that is 90 degree F (32C), 90% humidity, 90% of the time. Prepare to sweat as you climb the terraces!
This course was judged to be easiest of the three courses in the complex and is probably maintained for the amateur or family groups just looking for an outing. The other two course are much more serious and challenging!
Betong Course
This course is part of a three course complex on the resort island of Sentosa in Singapore. It is labeled as a "Swiss" course as it is made of concrete and it is made to International Tournament Standards. This is the most difficult course of the three courses in the complex.
The course is very long and a number of holes contain obstacles, narrow target chutes or target holes in the middle of the course that one must navigate on the way to the hole. Right angles, ramps, and double banked curves on the way to the holes make this course very challenging. The concrete format makes the
course very fast and, combined with the length of the course and the obstacles, one must be able to accurately gauge ball speed to score well. Balls of various hardness and rebound are provided for each hole to customize the ball type with the individual hole. A scorecard is provided with the recommended ball type. This is one tough course!
There is no par for the course, with scoring providing a ranking of ability:
Grade 1 18-27 strokes
Grade 2 28-27
Grade 3 38-47
Grade 4 48-57
Grade 5 58-67
Elementary 68-77
Amateur 78 onwards
The course receives high marks for creativity, with a variety of different obstacles and speed requirements. Holes such as "Flying Stroke" (6), "Sea Wave" (10), "Surfers Paradise" (13), and "Long Flight" (18) provide for interesting shot selection and speed. See pictures.
Sentosa is a tropical area and the course is lush with green, exotic plants. Part of the waterfall terrace from the Adventure course comes into view on this course and it would have improved the atmosphere if the water was running. This course is on the lower part of the hill and is relatively flat. The course is in good shape, with regular sweepings and no cracked in the concrete. The climate is 90/90/90 - that is, 90 degrees F (32C), 90% humidity, 90% of the time.
Eternit Course
This course is part of a three course complex on the resort island of Sentosa in Singapore. It is labeled as a "German" course as it is made out of metal sheeting and is made to International Tournament Standards. This course is significantly more difficult than the Adventure course, but not as challenging as the Betong course. It is situated between the Adventure and Betong courses on relatively level ground.
The hole length is relatively short, with the challenge being derived from the fast pace of a metal course combined with well placed obstacles. Unlike the other two courses, players may not step on the course and must stand off the course while making all shots.
Wedges, narrow chutes, elevated holes, spirals, and holes on the side of a slope (16) make shot making a premium and give this course a relatively high mark for creativity. Some of the elevated holes, especially (7) Volcano, (17) Sky Jump With Net, require precise ball speed to stay in the hole and not jump out of the course. Number 17 is particularly interesting as one must negotiate up a steep ramp with enough speed not only to reach the top, but to become airborne and reach a net several meters away that forms the hole. Balls of various hardness and rebound are provided for each hole to customize the ball type with the individual hole. A scorecard is provided with the recommended ball type. While challenging, the shorter length makes it a bit easier to negotiate than the Betong course. Also, on some holes, if you make it past the obstacles, the metal course has a tendency to have the ball roll towards the hole. Multiple holes in one are achievable on this course for the average player.

Sentosa is a tropical area and the course is surrounded by the terraced levels of the Adventure and Betong courses, with lush green, exotic plants. In addition to lizards, birds and squirrels, I encountered a snake on one of the paths of the course! The climate is 90/90/90 - that is 90 degrees F (32C), 90% humidity, 90% of the time. The course is well kept up and swept of debris.
The Eternit course is at the center of the complex and is near a bar and refreshment center. Cold drinks are a welcome respite for the heat and humidity, but the staff at the bar is relatively disinterested in discussing the course. Souvenirs and items from the Singapore Minigolf Association are for sale. An interesting display of minigolf history and participation of the Singapore team in World, European, and Asian Championships are on display in the refreshment area. Extra points were given for atmosphere for this display.
