We stopped by this course on
the way out of Pigeon Forge as it was a bit outside of town and looked less
busy than most on the day we were there.
It’s located at the edge of a large shopping center which makes it convenient
but we could see it filling up on really heavy days. The good thing is there are three courses
plus an arcade to keep people occupied.
The staff were very nice
explaining their pricing for the multiple courses and their views on which are
the hardest. We only had time to play one so we decided to pick by the
scorecard and chose the one with the highest par. The first thing we noticed was
the theming, which was on point for what you would expect from an Old
MacDonald’s course. Farm and animal
themes throughout the course both on the side and as obstacles on a variety of
holes. However, a lot of the more fun designs on the holes didn’t seem to help
much with getting aces. For example one
where you tried to get down a “short cut” channel always seemed to bounce out
of the cup or go flying by it. The holes also had some of the strangest tee
areas we have seen. The beginning was a more rubbery surface where the “tee
mat” was also included and then it transitioned to the more traditional
carpet. Presumably this cuts down on
some tee area wear and tear on the carpets but overall it makes for a less than
ideal putting experience.
However, considering those
notes we still found the course quite easy to play. With no practice and our
first time playing it, we came in under 36 and probably could have been even
lower if a few very close tee shots dropped for aces. It seemed like for anyone who played a lot of
minigolf that it was easy to set up a two on all of the holes. Which also means
we think this would be a good place overall to bring the kids with that type of
course play and the theming being very kid directed. While the price point for a single round is a
little pricey for what you get, playing all three courses as the discounted
price is very much worth it.
We wouldn’t run out to play
this course given all of the options in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area but if
you are looking for something a bit off the beaten path and some value for a
lot of holes you wouldn’t go wrong here. Given it is also part of the broader
Ripley’s chain of amusements, there are also options to combine play here with
a variety of other attractions at a good price.
